Great Meteoron or Monastery of the Transfiguration of the Saviour
The highest and oldest monastery of Meteora, founded in the 14th century by Saint Athanasios the Meteorite.

It is the most important monastery of the area, which gave its name to the wider region and preserves rich relics, stunning frescoes and significant buildings such as the refectory and the sacristy, functioning as the main museum of Meteora.
